Porth Llechog – Bull Bay trip notes.

Porth Llechog – Bull Bay trip notes.

On the northern coast of Anglesey, overlooking the Irish Sea, sits a charming little Welsh village, called Bulls Bay or Porth Llechog – meaning sheltered bay in Welsh.

As you stare out into the sparkling waters of the Irish Sea, you will notice a slipway of tiny pebbles, descending into the calming waters of Bull Bay, here you will start your sea swim adventure, an experience like no other.

Gathering in our pods you will be guided out of the angelic bay towards one of our awaiting safety boats. In front of you for as far as you can see will be towering rock formations, forming the rugged coastline between Amlwch and Cemaes, a well-known playground to the local dolphins and seals.

As we swim on by, you will see below shoals of tiny glittering fish, twisting and turning with every stroke you take. Heading onwards towards the entrance of a large sea cave, only visible from the sea, you will get to take a short breather, whilst you look on in awe of this geological treasure Anglesey has to offer.

Continuing our swim hugging the coastline, we will swim into the entrance of the magnificent bay, Traeth Porth Wen. As we look into the bay you will be astonished at its breath taking beauty. Standing tall amongst the landscape, you will gaze up on the ruins of a red brickworks factory once abandoned by man but reclaimed by nature and the surrounding beaches.

Here we will stop for take a well earned rest, before pushing on to catch the returning tide to Bull Bay, where we will end our adventure.

Swimming in the open sea amongst natural wildlife is a unique experience, but you may come across certain marine wildlife such as jellyfish, weever fish and coral from time to time. Wetsuits, gloves and neoprene boots will prevent your body from being stung by jellyfish and the safety crew will be keeping a watchfully eye out, to alert you and guide you in a different direction. If you are stung by a jellyfish and are un-able to carry on swimming, you will never be far from an escort boat, where one of the team will be able to treat the affected area immediately.

If you suffer from Anaphylaxis or any other allergic reactions it is important to inform us at the time of the booking.
