How old do you have to be to come on an adventure swim?
We welcome ages 16 and above. If under the age of 18 an adult must accompany them in the water during the swim. In certain circumstances swimmers under 16 can take part, please contact [email protected] for further information.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Please refer to the equipment list under your selected swims trip notes. You are welcome to bring with you equipment such as fins, pull buoy, snorkel etc, but please keep in mind there is limited space on the boats.
Do you cater for different level of swimmers?
Our swim effort levels vary with each swim and have been effort scored to help you choose which swim is more suitable to your abilities. The swims have been scored out of 5, with 1 being comfortable for sea swimming beginners and 5 being for the more experienced swimmer doing longer distances.
We have 2 boats and occasionally a kayak. One boat will be in front waiting for swimmers to regroup, so we all stay together, and no one strays too far ahead. The other boat will be at the rear to ensure no swimmer falls behind. We want you to enjoy this experience, it is not a race! Our swims are guided and are all about embracing your surroundings, so you can swim safely with others of similar speed within a pod taking away some fabulous memories.
Marine Life
Open water swimming is a unique and exciting experience, with most of the marine life being harmless. During our swim there is a possibility you will encounter marine life, with the risk of unfortunate encounters with jellyfish. We recommend swimmers take precautions to cover the skin as much as possible, by wearing a wetsuit, neoprene socks and gloves.
The team is fully focused on your safety during the swims and is constantly watching the water around you. In the event you are stung, our team have been trained in how to deal with jelly-fish stings and the majority of our swimmers are able to continue swimming.
What if I get tired?
It is important that prior to your swim you have managed comfortably to swim the distance your selected swim requires. All the average swimming distances are located on the swims trip notes.
However, should you feel unable to continue, you can jump a ride on one of our boats.
Do I need to train before my swim?
You should be a confident swimmer – before taking on the challenge of sea swimming and have the ability to swim 1.5 miles for one of our lower effort level swims.
The more advanced swims with an effort score of 4 and above. We recommend that you train for the distance listed. We can provide you with a training plan if you need some additional guidance, please message us and we will be happy to email you the information.
How many people will be on each swim?
Depending on the effort level of the swim, we can have between 6 to 12 swimmers.
