Llanddwyn Island Trip Notes

Sea Swim @ LLanddwyn Bay

Llanddwyn Island Trip Notes.

Basic Information

A stunning stretch of coastline, once inhabited by the patron saint of Welsh lovers, Llanddwyn Island and Newborough Beach are one of Anglesey’s most beautiful destinations. Renowned as one of the finest beaches in Britain, Llanddwyn is backed by, impressive sand dunes, and boasts spectacular views of Snowdonia National Park, Caemarfon and the Llyn Peninsula. With crystal clear waters and spectacular views, Llanddwyn makes a perfect base for a great adventure swim.

Located at the far end of Newborough Beach, you’ll find Llanddwyn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn) a truly magical place. The swim will take you around the island, which is a small headland jutting out into the sea and only technically becomes an “island” at high tide.

During this tour you will be able to swim past secluded natural bays and rocky outlets, home to many different species of bird. The water beneath provides you with clear views of the sea bottom and all its hidden wonders. The swimmers will have the opportunity to rest on the shores of Llanddwyn Island at the base of Tŵr Mawr Lighthouse, here if you wish you can venture up to the historical lighthouse, which was built back in 1845, inspired by Anglesey’s windmills. (See equipment required for this swim).

Once past the lighthouse, we will head back swimming around the Island and past the 4 pilot houses, now hosting a museum of local maritime history. Here we will see more natural bays sprinkled with golden sand. The swim will continue back to our starting point, where hot drinks and cake await.

Included in the price.

Fully guided tour with safety escort, swim coach, swim cap, hot drink and cake.

Each guest receives a silicone swim cap. Should you require other swimming gear please bring it with you. We will do our upmost to cater for everyone’s dietary needs, if you do have dietary needs, please email us.

Swimming awareness

Your safety is of the utmost importance to Aqua Adventure Swims. In the event of adverse weather conditions at any of our swimming locations, we may need to adapt our itinerary on the day.

In the unlikely event that a swim cannot go ahead as its deemed unsafe, Aqua Adventure Swims will do their very best to re-run the swim. There is no guarantee that this can be rescheduled within the same year of booking, refunds in this instance will be provided. For more information on refunds please refer to booking form.

Swimming in the open sea amongst natural wildlife is a unique experience, but you may come across certain marine wildlife such as jellyfish, weever fish and coral from time to time. Wetsuits, gloves and neoprene boots will prevent your body from being stung by jellyfish and the safety crew will be keeping a watchful eye out, to alert you and guide you in a different direction. If you are stung by a jellyfish and are un-able to carry on swimming, you will never be far from an escort boat, where one of the team will be able to treat the affected area immediately.

If you suffer from Anaphylaxis or any other allergic reactions it is important to inform us at the time of the booking.
