Founder; Nikki Holden-Trust
My passion for open water swimming started back in 2016, after joining the Liverpool Open Water Swimming Club. This is where I met the legendary swimmer Joe Kerrigan, who took me under his wing, teaching me how to swim and still coaches me to this day, with words of wisdom.
“There is always some part of your technique that can be improved.”
Since then I have been totally hooked on everything swimming, spending hours researching and training in the open water. I am a great believer in constantly challenging oneself and in doing so I partake in different challenges/events ever year.
My most memorable achievements so far have been completing a marathon in Northern Island, End to End swim at Coniston & Windermere, a Half Ironman, Ice Mile qualifier and a two way Ullswater swim. I will also be taking part in the 2023 Aquabike World Championships.
I have been very lucky and privileged to have been coached and guided by some amazing swimmers/coaches over the last few years, which in turn has made me the coach I am today.
As part of my coaching philosophy, I am a firm believer that if you have knowledge pass it on to those who do not. I also believe that you need to develop communication with all swimmers from beginner to elite level. This develops the relationship to ensure the best possible results.
On a practical level I believe some of the key aspects are;
- Mastering technique, to continuously monitor and improve stroke, through observation, discussion and drills.
- Competitiveness, either against other swimmers or the clock, ensuring every set and training session has a purpose and intensity.
- Frameworks and monitoring in place to challenge swimmers of all levels to grow and develop.
I coach adults and children from beginners to competitive swimmers. Currently I am the Lead Coach for the B squad, at a local competitive swimming club. Here I am responsible for the swimmers performance, taking them from skills development level to training them to reach A squad entry times.
Safety Boat Crew
Along with their powerboat experience they have completed their level 2 kayaking qualification and have spent, many gruelling hours supporting my swims in lake Coniston, Windermere and Ullswater.
Both having completed their level 2 power boat course on the challenging tidal River “The River Mersey”. Doing their assessments in these type of waters, gives them the vital experience of how to safely and efficiently control and manoeuvre a boat in strong tidal currents, with choppy waves

Chloe Holden-Trust
Being the youngest in the family, Chloe has been roped into everything swimming. From holding the dry robes on icy cold mornings to spending her family holidays planned around swimming locations. Chloe has her kayaking and powerboat qualification too and is a cadet for the Royal Navy. If Chloe is not in the water, she is training to compete in rowing competitions.
Watching all the swimmers inspired Chloe to take up swimming, and she now swims for Garston Swimming Club in the top performance squad.
